Local metal releases: the good and the bad

Recently I had the priviledge of reviewing two releases by local bands. One, Altars, was produced by a mate of mine, Nick Seja. The other, Beyond Mortal Dreams, is the band of another mate, Pahl. Each of these bands is distinct, and each has its merits. But –

The Beyond Mortal Dreams album From Hell is the black metal release of 2008. It is fan-fucking-tastic. See the review of this release here.

The Altars debut self-titled demo showcases the band but has terrible production values. Sorry guys but the production really got in the way of my enjoyment of your album: it didn’t do you justice. See the review here.
