The Aussie band ZOOT split in 1971. But they might be back.
According to Undercover.fm, Zoot will reform initially for the Rick Springfield and Friends Cruise in November.
“We’re going to test the waters, so to speak, and see how it goes,” Beeb tells Undercover.fm. “If all goes well we’ll consider playing some shows around Australia. I guess it will all come down to our individual schedules at the time but I hope it can happen.”
I’m a bit excited about this, because I love Zoot. Their album, Best of the Zoot Locker is one that I have spent hundreds of hours listening to. It’s very rockin’ stuff. And it turns out they’re from where I live now.

The members of Zoot formed as Down The Line in Adelaide in 1965. In 1967 they relocated to Melbourne and changed their name to Zoot. Their biggest hit was their hard rock cover of The Beatles ‘Eleanor Rigby’ in 1970 but in 1971 it was all over.

I saw The Zoot for free at The Royal Easter Show in 1970 & have never forgotten it,they were such a flashy,powerful band,as an impressive 16 year old they helps stir my lifelong interest in pop/rock music.it’s funny but the only song i can remember them doing is not even theirs,but a cover of Blackberry Way by The Move.i really hope they do some shows in Sydney,i will be there for sure.Paul
Nice!! Yes it’s funny that their most memorable work wasn’t even theirs originally haha I’ll definitely be scouting shows, too, if they hook any up! 🙂
